Politics of ME: An art exhibition for micro-perspectives

Politics of ME is a contemporary art exhibition presenting personal aspects on world views, on views of society and on self-perceptions through the eyes of 17 new generation artists who pay strong attention to the circumstances surrounding them by taking 'oneself' as a part of the phenomenon or by engaging in self-inquiry relating to the attitude towards particular issues.

When political views have partially become determinants of the structure of living, Politics of ME presents both thoughts and artistic expressions from the viewpoints of new generation which focus on the meaning of living that resides between idealology and reality. It also presents minor influences that are hidden among capitalism and international cultural media which foster the idea and living of this generation who struggle for uninfluenced voices amid chaotic information. Methods of thought and also mundane livings encourage the rise of individualism which deviates from common stereotypes. The individual ways of living at the same time have formulated various groups of concepts in order to present the ever-changing condition of contemporary people in the age of flux. Through artworks, Politics of ME deals with range of topics concerning the way young generation tackles coeval issues which generate critical thinking process, the way they seek balance to handle self-conflict, how they cut the ideas and dissimilar images then paste them together in order to redefine the word " original", the DIY ways of living led by instinct for spiritual freedom that emphasize the renouncing of patronage system, the way technology is used as a tool to reshape our understandings towards the world and lastly, the "looking forward attitude" that comes together with the notion of "good life" to look for the concept of possibility of physical and mental quality of life in the midst of current circumstances.

Not only art exhibition but Politics of ME is also a collaboration between artists and film directors to contribute their viewpoints related to the theme and content of the exhibition by presenting in the form of exhibition catalogue, art activities, and social media that is to be posted on social networking site. The objective of Politics of ME is to reflect the society of young generation who bargain hard between existence, the complixity of social structure,and influences of surrounding circumstances; finally is to demonstrate social movements that circulate and form a network which allow forseeing any future possibilities.

Politics of ME

เป็นนิทรรศการศิลปะร่วมสมัยซึ่งนำเสนอมุมมองส่วนบุคคลที่สะท้อนการมองโลก การมองสังคมและการมองตนโดยผ่านสายตาของศิลปินรุ่นใหม่17 คนที่ให้ความสนใจกับประเด็นรอบตัว โดยถือ "ตนเอง" เป็นส่วนหนึ่งของปรากฏการณ์นั้นหรือการมองหรือสะท้อนตนเองในความคิดเห็นที่ มีต่อสิ่งนั้น

เมื่อความคิดทางการเมืองโดยส่วนหนึ่งคือข้อกำหนดโครงสร้างของการดำเนินชีวิต นิทรรศการ Politics of ME นำเสนอความคิดและการแสดงออกทางศิลปะ ในมุมมองของคนรุ่นใหม่ในแง่ความหมายของการดำเนินชีวิตที่เลี้ยงตัวอยู่บน เส้นแบ่งระหว่างความคิดในอุดมคติและความเป็นจริง และเป็นการแสดงให้เห็นถึงอิทธิพลย่อยที่แฝงอยู่ในสังคม เศรษฐกิจทุนนิยม และสื่อวัฒนธรรมระดับสากลที่หลอมรวมความคิด และการดำรงชีวิตของคนรุ่นใหม่ที่กำลังดิ้นรนค้นหาเสียงอิสระท่ามกลางความ ยุ่งเหยิงของโลกข้อมูลข่าวสาร วิถีทางความคิดและการดำเนินชีวิตลักษณะนี้คือการแพร่ขยายความเป็นอัตบุคคล ที่กระจายออกจากศูนย์กลางและหันเหจากเอกลักษณ์ที่เป็นแบบเดียวกัน ในขณะเดียวกันวิถีความเป็นปัจเจกเหล่านี้ประกอบเป็นกลุ่มก้อนทางความคิดอัน หลากหลาย เพื่อแสดงให้เห็นถึงสภาวะความเคลื่อนไหวต่างๆ ของคนร่วมสมัยในยุคแห่งความเปลี่ยนแปลง

ด้วยผลงานศิลปิน Politics of ME นำเสนอประเด็นต่างๆ ตั้งแต่การตั้งคำถามซึ่งเป็นปัจจัยสำคัญในการคิดวิเคราะห์เพื่อทำความเข้าใจ กับประเด็นร่วมสมัย การจัดการกับสภาวะภายในตัวตนเพื่อมองหาความสมดุลระหว่างเหตุผลและความรู้สึก ที่ขัดแย้ง การคัดลอกความคิดหรือตัดแปะภาพลักษณ์อันหลากหลายสร้างความหมายให้กับคำว่า "ต้นฉบับ" ในแบบของตัวเอง การดำเนินชีวิตด้วยจิตวิญญาณอิสระในแบบ DIY ที่เน้นให้เห็นถึงการเริ่มละวางระบบพึ่งพาแบบอุปถัมภ์ การนำเทคโนโลยีมาใช้เป็นเครื่องมือขยายมุมมองเพื่อเปลี่ยนแปลงความเข้าใจที่ มีต่อโลก และท้ายสุดคือการจินตนาการความหมายของ "ชีวิตที่ดี" เพื่อมองหามโนทัศน์ของความเป็นไปได้ที่เป็นทั้งคุณภาพชีวิตทางกายภาพ หรือคุณค่าชีวิตทางจินตภาพท่ามกลางการขับเคลื่อนอย่างรวดเร็วของสภาพแวดล้อม ในสังคมปัจจุบัน

นอกจากผลงานศิลปะ นิทรรศการ Politics of ME ยังเป็นความร่วมมือกับศิลปินและผู้กำกับภาพยนตร์ ในการนำเสนอมุมมองที่ดึงความคิดเกี่ยวกับนิทรรศการ แตกเนื้อหาออกในรูปแบบของหนังสือ กิจกรรมทางศิลปะ และสื่อเฉพาะทางโซเชียลเน็ทเวิรค์ โดยทุกช่องทางการนำเสนอ มีจุดประสงค์ในการสะท้อนเรื่องราวทางสังคมของคนรุ่นใหม่ในยุคปัจจุบัน ซึ่งมองหาตัวตนท่ามกลางความซับซ้อนของโครงสร้างสังคม และต่อรองกับอิทธิพลของปัจจัยต่างๆ ที่อยู่รอบตัว และท้ายสุดอาจเป็นการแสดงให้เห็นถึงคลื่นความเคลื่อนไหวในปัจจุบันที่หมุน เวียนเป็นเครือข่ายความสัมพันธ์ และอาจเป็นการร่วมแบ่งปันช่องทางความคิดที่เปิดทางให้กับมิติของความเป็นไป ได้อื่นๆ ในอนาคต
